The Role

To develop and implement the procurement strategies, establish key sourcing alliances and Supplier Base Management plans that will support and continuously improve the organisation's competitive position in a world wide marketplace, for assigned commodities and technology.

Accountabilities: To achieve and exceed agreed Group procurement savings, through specific category sourcing projects.
  • Continually monitor and understand commodity consumption and spend profiles within their category of spend using available company management information tools.
  • Primary role to develop and implement commodity specific strategies for current, enhanced and new projects/programs in order to achieve the goals of the business plan and operating (business group) plans. In line with both local and Global requirements.
  • To develop and facilitate cross-functional commodity teams to implement the procurement strategies of a commodity/OEM product to support the Supplier Base Management Program, Operating Plans and Production Migration Plans in order to meet current and future needs of the company.
  • Continually seek opportunities to reduce the associated supply base by working with sites to eliminate sources of supply and thereby focus total commercial leverage with fewer suppliers.
  • Conscientiously focus on reducing non compliant spend within their category of spend using professional procurement approaches.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to assist in achieving the above.
  • Manage the supplier relationship to the short and long term business strategies in order to achieve total lowest cost, overall quality, reduced time to market, new and enhanced competitive products.
  • Acquire and represent International regional/divisional requirements within the Business category teams and ensure business/procurement solutions meet these needs.
  • Performing supplier evaluations/surveys to maintain an awareness of supplier's capacities, capabilities, market trends and all other pertinent issues as they relate to the organization's operating plan.
  • Develop RFIs and RFPs, analyse supplier proposals, support supplier negotiations process and assist in the development of supplier agreements and contracts.
  • Participate in planning meetings and make presentations to internal and external management as required to meet programme objectives.
  • Be the focal point and recognized sourcing expert within respective categories of spend and continually develop product, supplier and market knowledge.


  • Business Experience/Educational Background

  • Ability work and build relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to drive strategic sourcing and cost reduction programs.
  • Experience within a Freight or Logistics environment is essential
  • French or German language would be desirable
  • SAP knowledge.
  • External supplier management experience
  • Self motivated and can self manage and see projects through to completion
  • Procurement Experience.
  • A team player.
